TIME SAVING AI
AI supporting humans to have more time
Time is the ultimate resource. Having too many things to do and not enough time to do them is a definition of time poverty. Data from the Gallup US Daily Poll shows that, in 2011, 70% of employed Americans reported that they “never had enough time” in 2011, with this proportion increasing to 80% in 2018. With affluence rising, and time poverty increasing. scientists have now determined the effect of feeling short on time on psychological wellbeing. It is also known that buying time promotes happiness
All the data points out to time affluence or poverty being at least as important as material affluence in determining wellbeing.
What is the role that Artificial intelligence systems, and technology in general can play in this? Could future AI recognise when we are productive and we stopped being so? Could it help increase our work-life balance, and make the case for this being more productive than working too many hours with our employers?
We would like AI that makes recommendations on how to streamline our schedules so that we stay on our goals and remain effective throughout our days. Also such AI would take the more holistic picture of our entire lives into account, and help us reach the multifaceted and often elusive work family leisure balance we strive for.
